This page documents the Birthday Party for Lucky

The party planning started on April 20, 2008

The party took place on January 3rd, 2009

 * Event - Michelle (Lucky) Sparrow's Surprise Birthday Party

 * Venue - Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix (www.dbg.org)

 * Attendance - 72 friends and family

The Garden was exhibiting the works of Dale Chihuly.

"The Nature of Glass" will be at the Garden from November 22, 2008 to May 31, 2009.

Our Party goers were encouraged to roam the Garden and enjoy the glass.

Dale Chihuly is known for his innovative glass sculptures and his work is immediately recognizable for its grand scale and use of vibrant colors. Chihuly’s spectacular creations are found in more than 200 museums worldwide including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, London’s Victoria and Albert Museum and the Smithsonian American Art Museum. Garden exhibitions of his work have been mounted at the New York Botanical Garden, Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden, Atlanta Botanical Garden and the Royal Botanical Gardens, Kew.

Lucky knew she was going to a party, but she had no idea the party was for her.

When everyone turned around and yelled "Surprise" she almost fainted.

Below you will find some photos of our family and friends

that visited for the big event - Enjoy!

 Dancing? - You bet!

All five of our little Boston Terriers joined the party in spirit.

Jackson, Madeline, Gabrielle, Samantha and Isabella.

I wanted to take a moment to thank all our friends and relatives that came from across the country as well as our local friends and relatives.

I also wanted to thank Lisa Cassidy for helping me put this party together. I would have has this party at Chucky-Cheese if it’s weren’t for her help and guidance.

Thanks also to my Mom and her friend Carol for the table decorations and the cake. Each of the plants on the table came from the gift shop here at The Garden.

I’d also like to thank The Garden for helping me with so many of the little details that made this party possible.

This is really a special occasion -- because it's all about a very special person. Some of you know her as Michelle and others know her as Lucky. I know her as a wonderful person, a fantastic friend, a supportive sister, and a great wife.

Today, we celebrate Lucky’s 50th birthday and that's just incredible to me. Incredible because Lucky still has all the remarkable energies and enthusiasm of someone a lot younger. She's amazing - stubborn and smart, independent and gracious, with a great sense of humor and an unending tolerance for my, sometimes questionable, behavior.

(Who wrote this?)

Let’s all lift a glass and toast Lucky

We all love you and wish you all the best and we know that when we boil it down, we’re the Lucky ones.

                 Happy Birthday!
